For me, Megan is the best lawyer that I have met. She arrived to my life like an angel sent from heaven in order to secure lawful status for myself and my daughter. So I call it my lucky day, since every immigrant dream when they arrive to United States, is to get Legal status and documents. When the dream become true, you will always remember the day when you felt this is going to happened and it’s not just a dream anymore. You will only feel that when you get in touch with right person who is their dreams is to make your dream true.

And that day for me was when my case was assigned to Megan, and I went for the first meeting with her to talk about my case.

The reason that I felt my dream is going into the right direction is because i just felt it coming from Megan. I was talking to a person who is very curious to know my story, made me excited to talk more and more, very detailed with her questions and she made me feel very special and welcomed to United States. That experience alone made me feel that now I have someone that cares about what happened to me and also want to help me. Also For the first time in USA I felt I am safe.

I am Syrian, with all the news coming around from the media about my country and the Syrians, made me think I am nothing in USA. No rights at all. This feeling totally changed since my lucky day.

When I went to my second third and fourth appointments, I noticed that whatever we talked about in the previous meeting is converted to a law documents, proofs , evidence and articles from the news from websites, etc. I was really shocked that somethings I said without even knowing it matter was documented, to Megan, everything mattered.

When I saw all of this happening, I felt really confident about my case. I felt the chances of getting my asylum approved is close to 99%. One important thing I forgot to mention, that when my case was assigned to Megan, we had to work so fast since the Asylum interview was scheduled already, and we had nothing ready beside my personal information. We had to put everything together in short period of time to prepare the case, and I remember one day asking Megan “how did you get all this documents and proofs ready the next day?” She was working all night listening to our meeting voice recordings and researching everything I said.

The most stressful day was the interview day and the day before.

Megan drove me to the asylum office with two copies of a big pile of papers all my case documents. I was very confident with her, she always made me feel like a close friend and family member. I never felt like I am just a client. After three hours setting with the interviewer officer answering questions first thing Megan told me she felt very good about how the interview had gone.

I could keep writing on and on about my experience and feelings during my case process. This was not just a typical case with a lawyer. Megan treated me like how my family in Syria would treat me if I needed help.

My Asylum got approved 14 days after my interview. Two years later I received my green card.

Now I am working on building my future, awaiting my Citizenship to come so I can become a part of The United States in all ways.

Lo llamo mi día de suerte, ya que el sueño de cada inmigrante cuando llega a Estados Unidos es obtener el estatus legal y los documentos. Cuando el sueño se haga realidad, siempre recordarás el día en que sentiste que iba a suceder y ya no es solo un sueño. Solo sentirá que cuando se pone en contacto con la persona correcta, sus sueños se hacen realidad.

Yese día para mí fue cuando mi caso fue asignado a Megan, y fui a la primera reunión con ella para hablar sobre mi caso.

La razón por la que sentí que mi sueño iba en la dirección correcta es porque Megan me hizo sentir asi. Estaba hablando con una persona que tenía mucha curiosidad por conocer mi historia, me entusiasmó hablar más y más con sus preguntas muy detalladas y ella me hizo sentir muy especial y bienvenida a los Estados Unidos. Esa experiencia me hizo sentir que ahora tengo a alguien que se preocupa por lo que me pasó y también quiere ayudarme. También por primera vez en Estados Unidos sentí que estaba seguro.

Soy de Siria, y con todas las noticias que llegan por los medios de comunicación sobre mi país y los sirios, me hizo pensar que no soy nada en los EE.UU., que no tenía derechos. Este sentimiento cambió totalmente desde mi día de suerte.

Cuando asistí a mi segunda, tercera, y cuarta citas, noté que todo lo que hablamos en la reunión anterior se había convertido en documentos legales, pruebas, y articulos de las noticias del internet, etc. Me sorprendió mucho que algunas cosas que yo había dicho, sin siquiera saberlo, estaban documentadas por Megan.  Para ella todo importaba.

Cuando vi todo esto, me sentí realmente seguro de mi caso. Sentí que las probabilidad de obtener mi asilo aprobado estaban cerca del 99%. Una cosa importante que olvidé mencionar es que cuando mi caso fue asignado a Megan, tuvimos que trabajar muy rápido ya que la entrevista de asilo ya estaba programada en dos semanas, y no teníamos nada listo aparte de mi información personal. Tuvimos que juntar todo en poco tiempo para preparar el caso, y recuerdo que un día le pregunté a Megan "¿cómo preparó todos estos documentos y pruebas el día siguiente?" Ella estaba trabajando toda la noche escuchando nuestras grabaciones de voz de la reunión e investigando todo lo que dije.

El día más estresante fue el día de la entrevista y el día anterior.

Megan me llevó a la oficina de asilo con dos copias de un gran paquete de papeles, todos los documentos de mi caso. Tenía mucha confianza con ella, ella siempre me hacía sentir como una amiga cercana y miembro de mi familia. Nunca sentí que solo soy un cliente. Después de tres horas de interrogaciόn con el entrevistador, respondiendo a las preguntas, Megan me dijo que se sentía muy bien acerca de cómo había ido la entrevista.

Podría seguir escribiendo sobre mi experiencia y sentimientos durante el proceso de mi caso. Esto no era solo un caso típico con un abogado. Megan me trató como mi familia en Siria me hubiera tratado si necesitara ayuda.

Mi asilo fue aprobado 14 días después de mi entrevista. Dos años después recibí mi tarjeta verde.

Ahora estoy trabajando para construir mi futuro, esperando que llegue mi ciudadanía para poder formar parte de los Estados Unidos en todas maneras.

My experience with Megan is very special, I came to Megan with a very complicated case, very difficult after I spoke to many lawyers who told me there is no way you can build case or have my status fixed. My case had no chance until I met Megan.

She gave me hope when I had no hope and she gave me chance when I had no chance.

She worked so hard on my case and showed me support, care and gave me advices to walk through the hardest time of my life. I didn’t know what to do or where to go especially I am not from this country and not familiar with how things work, I was so depressed and lost, emotionally drained and afraid of what could happen.
